There’s a Good Grief

There’s a good grief
It’s watered by our tears
Pain the seeds
Toiled by the remembrance of the loss

Its seasons of harvest follow the seasons of the sun
Winters bitter. Summers deceiving.
Smiles and laughter – indicators of the healing while never erasing the pain

Time doesn’t heal all wounds it just transitions its form
The love isn’t lost but a journey’s required to encounter it once again

That’s the reality of good grief
You can breathe once again with ease but you’ll have to weather the bitterness of winter
The discomfort of the spring as you learn to say goodbye
Not get swept up in the emotion of summer or fall will destroy you as the cycle of the seasons starts again

There’s a good grief but don’t be deceived its journey isn’t easy
Its hand not always pleasant
But if you follow her
She will nurture you and guide you, as the spirit sustains you

There’s a good grief, but don’t get lost in any one season
There’s a promise of hope and comfort
The love is not lost
So as you journey through the good grief
Remember, you have a friend
