A Letter to My Butterfly

To my butterfly,

Remember you have a destiny. Remember you are called to great things. That your greatness will be as unique as you are. There will be those who try to steal it or hate on it. Remember only you can do it and only you can be it. You will make your mark on this world and you might not get to see it but never doubt that your mark was made. You are AWESOME and it’s not because I say so; it’s because it’s who you are designed to be.

Never forget a butterfly doesn’t start in its glorious state of beauty. A butterfly starts as a caterpillar-a bug most people think is ugly or gross. Their bodies are soft making them easy to squish. Most people will overlook them not waiting to see what beauty they will turn into. Then they go into a phase where they feel trapped; it’s time for their cocoon. They can’t move. They have to wait for the process to be over. Last but not least they must fight. That cocoon doesn’t fall off. You have to push against it to break apart the walls. It doesn’t seem fair to go from being trapped in a weak state to fighting to survive, but if you don’t fight to get out you won’t be strong enough to fly.

Don’t worry that you feel too weak to push against that thing that was holding you. It was holding you to change you and now that you’re changed it’s time to discover your new design.

That design holds the strength to let you fly. Fly above troubles, times of sadness and fear. So keep fighting my butterfly until it’s time to fly. Don’t say, it’s okay I’ve grown comfortable here. Once it’s time to leave the cocoon it doesn’t matter how hard it is to leave. Keep pushing. If not, that thing that was designed to transform you will kill you. Remember my butterfly, you were designed for great things so keep fighting until you learn to fly.

Beautiful butterfly, you are loved.
