Author: Dr. Geraldine Pinkston

Geraldine (Gerri) Pinkston received her undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Pathology and Audiology. Her graduate degree was in School Psychology, and she received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology. She worked as a school psychologist for forty years before retiring in 2019. During that period, she also counseled families, couples and individuals, including
children and adults.

Dr. Pinkston wrote and produced a 30-minute program for a affairs program “Black Perspective” (Anita Ford Saunders, Executive Director, Hartford CT) which was nominated for an Emmy Award. She was also extended an invitation to submit material for the popular children’s program, Sesame Street while living in Connecticut.

Several of Dr. Pinkston’s short stories for children were published in Colorlines Magazine. In addition, She has written and directed plays which were performed at churches in Connecticut and in California.

Dr. Pinkston began her church leadership experience in 2000, teaching delivering sermons, presenting workshops, providing counseling to individuals and families, and mentoring other ministers and church members in Hartford Connecticut. She began serving as Associate and Assistant Pastor at the Congregation of Zion in California since 2005. She has taught ministry classes and Bible Studies, conducted workshops for ministers and congregates, mentored and
supervised ministers, counseled individuals, families, and couples, preached and fulfilled tasks for over twenty years. She continues to study interpretations of scriptures, particularly from a Hebrew perspective. She has been researching and presenting workshops on gender differences, particularly as they pertain to couples for the past 10 years.

Her latest project is a book entitled, God Called, She Answered: Moving Past History and Tradition into Ministry Leadership.
